The pristine lakes and rivers of the area are home to walleye, northern pike, large and smallmouth bass, lake trout, brook trout, whitefish, perch and muskie. The most popular fishing destinations are the Ottawa River, Talon Lake and Lake Nosbonsing. If you are looking for seclusion, head to Algonquin Park and find a river, stream or lake away from the crowd. The only company you will find will be the fish.
Winter ice fishing opportunities abound in Mattawa Voyageur Country. Popular spots for ice fishing are the Mattawa River, Lake Nosbonsing, Talon Lake and Trout Lake. The ice fishing season starts in mid to late December and can last until late March. Always check with local outfitters for current conditions before venturing out onto the ice.
