Winter visitors to Mattawa Voyageur Country may find that it is easier to get around on a snowmobile than it is in a car. Hundreds of kilometres of world-class trails are spread across the area and are minutes away from Le Voyageur Inn.
This area of Ontario is part of the Algonquin Snow Belt and experiences heavy dumps of snow that help the snowmobiling season last from December to April. The trails will take you through the beauty of the vast wilderness of Ontario’s Mattawa Voyageur Country, with landscapes covered in white. Fuel up and hold on tight as you explore kilometer after kilometer of adrenaline pumping trails through the impressive Laurentian Mountains of Quebec. Or take a different route and discover the trails that lead westpast Bonfield to North Bay and Lake Nipissing. For the really ambitious Snowmobiler, there is the four-day RAP Tour that loops around the perimeter of Algonquin Park. This tour is a true adventure and is a daunting 1000 kilometres long. Dress warmly and be prepared for an experience of a lifetime.
Both Mattawa and Bonfield are snowmobile friendly towns with a number of dining options. North Bay offers a larger variety of dining options and has a number of trails within the city limits. Le Voyageur Inn offers secure parking for your snowmobile. Contact the Mattawa Information Centre (Tel. No. 705-744-0222 or 1-800-267-4222) for more details about snowmobiling.
